Processor

Processing power determines how quickly instructions are executed and the amount of multitasking. Cores determine the number of applications that can run at full speed without interruption, ultimately the number of cores count as a single processor’s total computing power, meaning some applications use all cores at once.

Graphics Processor

Graphics power determines how quickly information is displayed, the quality of the images and the number of monitors you can have at once. Ultimately the graphics processor determines the limit of videos and games, the graphics processor also works with some applications to provide additional computing power.

Integrated – Limited processor which shares your computer’s resources, best used for light computer users. Unable to play games.

Discrete Graphics – Dedicated processor with it’s own memory, improves computer’s performance and is able to play games.

Memory

Memory (RAM) is the computer’s short term memory allowing the computer to access information faster that is currently active or previously used. More memory allows the computer to perform faster.

Dual Channel – Allows for double the memory speed of conventional systems allowing for faster performance.

Operating Storage

The computer’s primary storage, stores the operating system and applications. Determines how quickly the operating system and applications load, also determines the amount of applications and data which can be stored.

Hybrid Hard Drive – Also know as a Fusion, is a combination of solid state and hard disk drives to allow large storage capacity and are potentially faster than traditional hard disk drives.

Solid State Drive – The fastest drive, solid state has no moving parts allowing performance over 10,000 times of a traditional hard drive and potentially lasts twice as long.

Data Storage

Secondary data storage, additional storage drives to store more data and applications.

Hard Disk Drive – Traditional hard drive, ideal for storing large amounts of data at an affordable cost.
